What is your point? Traveling to a meeting while you might be going to work, you aren't working. When I board a plane I am working and funny that you want me to deal with your upgrade issues for free. Those gate holds and delays are worked for free. You will never do the amount of free work while actually working that I do.
Our pay rules are frustrating, my friend. One of the ways that I find it bearable is to think about the fact that most other people don't get to sit around reading, conversing, staring blankly out the window at mountains, the Grand Canyon, the Northern Lights, etc, and eating and drinking for free while working. For me, the benefits far outweigh the costs.
