Stayed 3 nights at the Fairmont Miramar, using a suite upgrade certificate. Check in was uninspiring to say the least. Barely greeted, gave CC, typed away at computer than gave me my room key. No asking if we needed help with baggage, pointed us to the elevators but didn't make clear we needed the second set of them as the suite was located in the older building.
The suite its self was unimpressive, renovations consisted of sticking a couple flat screen TV's in while ignoring furniture and other items. The windows could best be described as slits like on a castle -- its an old building so I don't hold that against them but they could at least clean them once a decade. The Fairmont Fit equipment I ordered never arrived, and the pool was closed for my entire stay (couple weeks total I think) for cleaning. No alternate facilities available. After calling down to inquire where my Fairmont Fit stuff was, they knew nothing about it so gave the first agent my sizes than hung up. I was still getting ready to go out and didn't need them right away, so not a big deal. Few hours later, still haven't arrived so call back down and was informed it was brought to the attention of the front desk and they'll be calling me for my sizes soon

I finally give them again to this agent and they finally do arrive, but its not a very smooth process.
Had lunch at FIG and the food was excellent, used a dining certificate and gave it to the person who seated me (think this is the usual procedure) had a good meal than when it comes time for the bill its delivered but the dining certificate wasn't taken off. After flagging down the waiter he remembers (luckily..) and takes it off.
Finally when checking out I want to grab a ride to the bus stop with the house car, I ask when checking out and I'm referred to the concierge. Can't the front desk clerks just handle it end to end or at least request it for me? While at the checkout counter another employee walks by and the desk clerk requests he contact the concierge, than after a pow wow they decide the house car is out and it will be 5-10 minutes. Driver was good and a nice luxury SUV.
The service just didn't seem smooth, I was much happier with the staff at the Hyatt Century Plaza which I got off Priceline for $85/night. In the end I think I just should of stayed 3 extra nights there.
