Apologize if this is the wrong place to pose this question, but my impression is that BAEC forum is full of people with amazing smarts about LHR.

Am arriving into LHR T5 at 5:30 am this week (so glad strike not started yet), and don't leave until 4:30pm on BMI from T1.

I looked into Sofitel (my choice--stayed before) dayroom but it is over 200 pounds since there are 3 of us (they'll only give us a suite).

Was thinking it made sense to get closer to T1 anyway. If we find a hotel near there could we take a taxi to and from T1 to hotel? Which hotel is good?

But some have suggested on other forums that taxis don't want to take you that short a distance. Any thoughts? Do I just give in and spend big for 5 hours of sleep?
