Your assumption is correct. You will get 100% miles on UA.

Rerouting you to a flight 4 days earlier seems very odd. There should still be plenty of options for 25 Dec, especially if you are allowed to be rebooked to Y class. It is safe to assume that there is still plenty of availability via FRA/MUC/LHR on 25 Dec in Y class.

If you could be rerouted to a flight on 25 Dec and still keep your current booking class (Y) it would be a very nice solution for you (and worth the extra stop IMO). I would give it a try and look up some possible itineraries on SK.dk, LH.com, UA.com before calling US.
