flew JFK - LCY last night and the flight was genuinely outstanding. thought I'd upload some pics with some commentary (bear with me, this is my first attempt at a "trip report").
after a hell-raising cab ride to JFK, First check-in was completely empty and thanks to a very nice check-in agent, I managed to get my friend (who was flying economy on a slightly earlier flight) an invite for the dining room so we could have food together. JFK F lounge was as it always is, the attendant managed to block the seat next to me (there were 22 of us (out of potential 32) and when she got her supervisor to block the seat next to me, 9 hadn't checked in of which 6 had assigned seats but 3 didn't). there was only 1 more flight departing after our 10pm flight and the lounge was pretty empty. apart from me, there were about 4 other LCY pax in the F lounge, i.e. Gold Card holders.
Boarding was called at 9.40pm which felt a bit late but it only took 5 mins to board and we pushed back at 10pm.
Here's a few shots of the seat:
The crew (3 of them) were very friendly, efficient and chatty. Over the course of the flight, they and the service they provided were quite frankly outstanding. I was addressed by name throughout the flight, wine and water were topped up and they generally were going out of their way to make sure everything was fine. 2 of them briefly sat down next to me when we were chatting.
The crew on this flight are LGW based and interestingly, it was the purser's only 2nd run on this route whilst her colleague had 3 LCY rotations coming up this month alone. When I took the following photo of the empty cabin after we had landed, the purser was keen to get into the photo which resulted in the 2nd pic:
There was a full guide explaining all aspects of the service including the SNN stop on the way out and arrival into LCY:
To my surprise, a full menu was offered in addition to the sleeper service sandwich that I had expected (and why I had eaten a full meal in the lounge).
