Good luck on the DCA-ATL upgrade; this is a very elite heavy business route, depending of course on day of week and time of day. I understand that some of these flights never have G upgrade space released. If it's not too late, have you considered alternative connections (MEM, DTW, MSP, SLC)?
Got it, thanks.
I figured there was a reason there was no V/G upgrade space released due to the business and govt-heavy routing for DCA-ATL. However, there were a few factors considered in my decision (and I did consider alternative connections):
1- Time of flight ex-DCA: I had a very small departure window in the afternoon due to scheduling/meetings and when I chose to book DL going to West Coast, choice of flights was very limited. And I didn't particularly want to get home in the 11pm-midnight hours.
2- Upgrade on the longest flight segment: I was really only concerned about the transcon segment. I fly in the back on 2hr flights all the time going to SEA from SJC/SFO so DCA-ATL won't kill me (prebooked exit row also). However that 5hr ATL-SJC flight in the back would have been brutal.
