Donate Kellogg's food to schools
If you want to get a lot of miles for certs and/or just can't eat another bar or twist, here's an idea for you.
<p>
School is back in session.
<p>
In our district there is a massive before school feeding program for low income students. The breakfasts are issued in a standard format with no consideration for the size or age of the child other than primary or middle school.
<p>
Each child receives a 4 oz. juice, a 4 oz. milk and a cereal or a bar on some days. a juice, a milk and bread with jelly on others. Peanut butter has been given up due to possible allergies.
<p>
There is little extra food for the larger students who might still be hungry.
<p>
Many of the schools would be thrilled to recieve donations of non-perishable items (no Eggos). They could use these items to help the students who are hungry. Also, the food items might be given to students who come from low income families, but don't meet the guidelines. Often because the parent won't fill in the form!
<p>
It is hard to think that in America these things happen.
<p>
Although many of our students can afford to buy Cokes and candy, others do without.
<p>
At this point we are only allowed to give students food that is packaged and labeled with ingredients.
<p>
More than likely the school would be willing to give you a tax receipt. Schools are used to acknowledging donations.
<p>
While your in the spirit of giving, how about some packages of pencils and pens?
