Agreed. The reason the credit card information is requested is to charge the "no show" penalty when a guest does not arrive for a reward booking and the points are being return.

My bad.. awfully weird on one hand you guys are saying that the points is the deposit.. on the other hand you have to guarantee the reservation with a credit card in case for a no show. They should change this policy because it is hypocritical.. plus gives them the opportunity to charge your credit without authorization..
Sorry, I would get heated if this happened to me.. I would call up the credit card company and submit a fraud application for the unauthorized charge. It's important to send a message that this is totally one hundred percent unacceptable.
