i was just making a comparison on standard calling, even from a landline phone in the US to countries where there is a surcharge for mobile. The difference is big between landline and mobile. Comparing back to your original post, the hotel is charging you about the same ratio. Skype is your friend when traveling abroad. Esp. if you have an iTouch it can act like a phone where there is wireless..
