Haven't been up there for a while but unless anything has changed you can catch camel racing at Al Marqadh, which is in the direct vicinty of Nad al Sheba. If you head to what is now Meydan from Dubai on Muscat Street you can see it on your left after you cross Al Khail Road. Have never stopped off but used to see the racing on weekend mornings in winter months on my way to the old Nad al Sheba golf club - looked like good fun.

expatinglasgow - I assume camel racing is similar to the horses in that wagers are not allowed but you can take part in a 'prediction competion'?
