Eventually one of these machines will go out of calibration and give a serious radiation dose to thousands of unsuspecting people. Unlike a hospital setting (or even a dentist's office setting), there will be no practical way to track down those impacted and notify them. I doubt these machines are being subjected to the same periodic calibration standards that medical equipment has.

And TSA, with it's culture of secrecy and unaccountability, will do everything in their power to cover it up. Nobody will know until the cancer cases start appearing in 20 years, and by then it will be impossible to even know which machine was the problem.

And that's all assuming the normal radiation dose that comes out of these things is actually safe. IMO the jury is still out on damage to DNA in skin cells, increased cataract risk, and several other possibilities.
So where the heck is the EPA and FDA on this? TSA is NOT immune from the law. These machines need to be banned!
