I had the opposite problem, if you can believe this:
I used my AA Mastercard to charge the travelers checks on Sunday. Yesterday I received the checks and have yet to have the charge show up on my credit card. I have no doubt the charge will show up but it's hard to believe that Chase would send those checks out the door without my money in hand!
