Security Screening Over Stepping the Line at ATH
Sitting at BA Lounge at ATH having had to change to the morning flight due to Greek ATC strike (as well as a Metro Strike at ATH, and that being after the taxi strike at ATH, but I digress). Anyway, security screening procedures at ATH now seem to 'entitle' agents to put there hands down the front of your pants were one's genitals are! As I quite rightly objected to this I was, at first, dismissed with "I am only doing my job". I am not one usually to create 'havoc' at the screening area; however, this time I made absolutely sure I did! This agent had well and truly crossed the line in my opinion. I made my views known to the agent's supervisor who, to be fair, appeared to get my point. The agent denied my 'story' until I invited the supervisor to view the CCTV.
This sort of intrusion must be stopped IMHO. I have never had anything like this at any airport in the world, be it one in the UK or the USA, or even TLV for that matter. If agents are being told to act that way at ATH then the Greek authorities really must ensure this stops. It is a disgrace and a gross violation of one's dignity.
