While in Sao Paulo I checked my bank statement and found $8,000.00 in ATM purchases/withdrawls. These transactions were done in Vancouver, bank froze my account. As soon as I got home, went into the bank, and within two hours all money was replaced into my account. The bank told me someone had seen my pin number. They suggested that my pin number should be changed regularly, which I now do. I also do NOT use any ATM except for my Banks ATMS and I do not make any purchases with me ATM card. When I see what I want I go to the Banks ATM and get the cash, and when I travel I onlly carry cash, I never use credit cards or ATM cards. I know there will be a lot saying you should not carry cash but, in all the years I have done this, I have not had a problem, the money is locked in the hotel safe and I carry only enough for what I need, and most of that is not in any pocket, but in my shoe.
