I just got a call from AA saying that GHB (Governor's Harbour, Bahamas) is closed. My flight thee weeks from now has been rerouted to ELH (North Eleuthera), which is about 1.5 hours away by car. AA will provide ground shuttle service between the two airports.

But when I read the local newspapers, it doesn't seem that GHB is really closed. It is only American Eagle that is not flying to GHB for unspecified safety reasons. The airport is open. Any idea what recourse I have in this situation? Will AA put me on another carrier to GHB? I hate losing 3 hours of my short vacation in the back of a shuttle bus...

Of course, if the airport is really unsafe, maybe I'm better off staying away.
