Just to update this thread:

Canada 3000 flights apparently don't earn elite miles on AAdvantage: The original entry may have been a mistake. Additionally, discounted economy flights within Canada only earn 50% miles (consistent with Air Canada Aeroplan and Canadian Plus) although there is a 50% bonus until end of the year.
