Picked up a Senior Gold for $55 a year, which I never use, since I have a free Accolades AMEX from US Trust, if I need it, and moved my spend to Visa Signature. I haven’t noticed any difference. I never even had an acknowledgment from Chenault's office. Letting that spend walk out the door, from a nearly 50 year customer, while simultaneously going to the Feds for TARP money (last year) tells you all you need to know about this company.
Wow, it does sound like I'm wasting my time. I think that I should downgrade to the Platinum. After reviewing the benefits there isn't much difference - but the annual fee being over 2K more. I'm also going to cancel some other Amex cards I have (a corporate card and the Costco card which I never use which ironically has a limit much higher than the Starwood one they suggested I get). This really sucks. I like the Starpoints, I like the Amex web site, I used to get excellent customer service. Sounds like computers and disconnected decision makers are running the place though, from the sounds of your experience and mine.
