What is there to negotiate on and how could that possibly now happen? This is my recap:
1. Ballot in Nov 2009 for IA.
2. BASSA Membership in favour of IA (92% Yes on turnout).
3. Strike Dates announced by UNITE/BASSA for 12 days over Christmas.
4. Court Injunction by BA to stop the strike.
5. Reballot in Jan/Feb 2010.
6. UNITE loses High Court case on imposition of crew complements as a contractual change.
7. BASSA Membership in favour of IA (81% Yes on turnout).
What actually changed between (2), (3) and (7), with regards the situation at hand between CC, BASSA and BA Management.
If a decision was made to go on strike (2), immediately confirmed by strike dates (3), why is BASSA still negotiating and what for?
I've followed this pretty closely on pprune and this board and I have to say, I am unclear on what CC are striking/negotiating/holding out for now. Isn't this the problem, that no-one knows, not BA Management, not BASSA and not the CC themselves. Individuals know why they have voted Yes or No to IA (and clearly some switched camps between the votes), but on a collective level I would suggest no-one knows why the individuals voted that way and what they aim to get out of the process.
As others have said, it's hard to see how BASSA could have done a worse job at protecting CC interests.
