Yes, I will continue to get points but I think it might be better off accumulating miles with my American Airlines affinity card. There is no question that I will continue to use Surpass for Hilton property stays. In fact, we had dinner at a Hilton in L.A. last week (but were not staying there) and made a point of using Surpass for exactly the reason you suggest.
