Thanks all fo the tips. I've tried priceline name your own price up to $120 for 4* in Mid Town East & West, Central Park & Empire State Building but nothing accepted yet. I don't think I am willing to pay more than that as I need to factor in buying breakfast elsewhere on priceline. Closer to the time I'll try lowering my bid to $100 and 3.5*.

I arrive Monday night & will remember to check for subway closures before I go.
