Let me get this right? You applied for the HH Surpass card and less than yeaer now you have "too many" HH points?
Now you will stay at Hilton (whether award or not) paying with another card? ...despite the fact that a) you get additional points when on a Hilton stay using the card to pay for all chargesR b) you still get 2500 points for the first eight stays charged to the card .. well you might have gotten those already. c) you get 500 points for online bookings paid by the card.. okie dokie your strategy makes perfect sense to me.

My HH points have not been accumulated solely as a result of using the Surpass card; I had already accumulated a goodly number of points before I applied for the card. I didn't mean to imply that I would use a different card for Hilton property stays. What I meant was that I see no advantage to using the Surpass card for other expenses since it appears that anything charged to Surpass in 2010 will have no effect on my future Diamond status (since it is good through April 2012). Yes, I will continue to get points but I think it might be better off accumulating miles with my American Airlines affinity card. There is no question that I will continue to use Surpass for Hilton property stays. In fact, we had dinner at a Hilton in L.A. last week (but were not staying there) and made a point of using Surpass for exactly the reason you suggest.

Am I making sense yet?
