Q: Has anyone used "guaranteed seat reservations" benefit?
Hi there,
Recently, many of the EK flights I have taken have been sold out. The economy seems to be recovering, indeed.
Now I want to make a reservation for an upcoming trip (10 days from now), and the flight is already booked up. By chance I noticed that there is a seat guarantee for Skywards Gold members in economy class. I have pasted the description from the online FAQ section below.
My question for you:
- Has anyone ever used this guarantee, did it work for you?
- From the FAQ description it seems that any "Skywards Flex" fare entitles to this guarantee. This would mean that also some inexpensive, but "flex" fares would count. Is that true?
Thank you for your feedback!

What are guaranteed seat reservations? How do I get one? (Applicable to GOLD members only)
If no seats are available on your Emirates flight and you are holding a '*flex' First Class , Business Class or Economy Class, your Skywards Gold membership guarantees you an Economy Class seat on the flight of your choice. If you have paid for a Business or First Class ticket, you will also be priority waitlisted for the desired class. To avail of this benefit, a copy of your ticket must be faxed to the service centre nearest to you.
Please note that to use Guaranteed Reservations you must make your booking 48 hours prior to departure and you must check-in at least 90 minutes before the stated departure time in Economy Class, 60 minutes in Business Class and 45 minutes in First Class. Please call your Skywards service centre to avail of this privilege.
*A Skywards Flex fare is any Emirates fare with no restrictions, i.e. no minimum/maximum stay restrictions and no eligibility or purchase restrictions.
