Well as it has already happened...my best advice would be to tell once you reach SFO....

"On my JFK-SFO flight, when I used your drink ticket, I thought of you and how much you mean to me and how this drink symbolizes the give and take between spouses that builds the foundation for a happy marriage..."

(um...yeah can you TELL I'm single?)
