Strangely, I believe that an AS ticket on DL metal will not allow you to upgrade as a DL elite, but I may be wrong. I know AS and DL recently worked out a recipricol upgrade deal. You may also want to verify that this is not consolidator's inventory (I doubt it is) because you probably won't get miles if so. Finally, maybe check AS's website for this routing, they may even be cheaper than Travelocity.
