On Tuesdays the local markets change their specials. So, yesterday, I went to Ralphs, Vons and Smart & Final to check out the Kellogg's deals. None. Smart & Final has the 300 mile NutriGrain bars at $7.35. Not a deal. I went to Pik & Save, a closeout place and found 5 boxes of Mueslix @ $1.99 each and 10 boxes of Product 19 @ $2.39. These had expiration dates of October of this year. Plus, the prices marked on them were from Kellogg's. I know this because I bought a case over a week ago from Pik & Save and after I opened the carton, there was a sheet of stickers with the price. This did not come from Pik & Save, but from Kellogg's. So they even suggest the retail price on about-to-expire cereal. Nevertheless, it's good to check the closeout places for old stock.

Now, here's a theory I have...remember back in late February (at least in the LA area) we had a run on Mini-Wheats? Then, 3 months later, we have a really good price on Nutri-Grain bars. I figure that sometime in late August or early September, we'll have another run. Are these timed to up the activity for the close of each quarter? Who knows? As I said, it's just a theory.

One more small theory...I doubt that we'll ever see Frosted Bite-Size MiniWheats with a plane on the box, so I'm going to take my accumulated coupons to the store for someone to use who actually buys this cereal to eat. Someone should get some benefit.
