Just to get this straight, since I am not totally sure about this. If you are still on the waitlist for an upgrade, do not check in online correct? I was waitlisted once for an upgrade, but this was a 2nd leg of a two-legged flight. Of course, I had to check in to get on the first leg. But when I got to the transfer point, they took my boarding pass and gave me a new upgraded one.
What are the disadvantages of checking in online when still waitlisted? It seems that you can just swap out your old BP for the new one at the airport.
