Re: stay at Fairmont property, I have stayed at many of the Fairmont properties throughout North America but this is the first time I'm staying at a Fairmont property in China and first time I need help to reserve/purchase train tickets for me in advance (as I'm afraid the tickets won't be available by the time I get there). I normally make reservation or purchase things myself (in North America).
May be that CC transactions are handled differently in China, sorry no idea, havenīt been there.
Anyhow, if you feel uncomfortable providing your CC info, you might want to use a CC you donīt use otherwise in order to minimize risk (At least thatīs what I tend to do: 1 CC for every-day use, 1 back-up CC and 1 CC for "risky" transactions). Though to be honest I doubt youīll have any trouble with disclosing your CC info to Fairmont.
