"You have a bomb in your bag?" New security question
I was flying from CAI yesterday and had, shall we say an interesting experience at security.
My bag was picked from those going through the x-ray and taken to a table at the side for a hand inspection.
Once I'd got my bits and pieces from the tray and put my belt on, I went to the table and the lady there smiled at me and said "You have a bomb in your bag?"
At this point I could think of several answers, almost all of which would have resulted in me not leaving on that particular flight, but possibly spending some time as a guest of the Egyptian govenment.
However, before I could speak, the person from the x-ray came over and asked me if I had some nail clippers in my bag, which I did have. They are legal and have been through hundereds of x-ray scans with probably only 2 or 3 hand inspections resulting.
So, full marks to the x-ray scanner for picking those up, but I think the lady on the bag search area either needs retraining or a different sense of humour. There are multiple cases of passengers saying similar things and finding themselves in very hot water.
