Academic titles in LH & other *A carriers

Hey there,

Just reminded a small article about frequent travellers in LH magazine, one of them (let's call him Hans Kloss for sake of this discussion) had a PhD title and on his boarding pass his name was written as "KLOSS/HANSDR" (instead of "KLOSS/HANSMR").

I sense we have few PhD holders @ flyertalk - do you also put DR instead of MR or MRS on your boarding passes? More importantly - do you think it helps in any of the areas during the flight? (before/after). Best example - we have three SENs onboard, similar milage, but only two upgrades available. Does LH give a preference to DR? (I know, I know - extreme situation).

Just curious how this could influence *A airlines, as the academic titles are a pretty big thing in DE/CH/AT (also CZ, PL).

What do you think?
best
