No Amtrak ticket purchase or travel is required to transfer from CO to Amtrak Guest Rewards. And there is no cost to make the transfer. AGR points can be redeemed for Amtrak travel (including sleeper travel from coast to coast), hotel and car rental awards, and gift cards from a variety of merchants. Whether this is what the OP would consider worthwhile, I do not know.
