I'm back... some comments

#1- GSM service in Port Au Prince was quite good. I had better service with Digicell than I do with AT&T at home

#2- Customs tried to stop us and confiscate our supplies. Tried. They failed. We told them that this was for our hospital, the Puerto Rico Hospital in Delmas and refused to step aside until they let us through. We did lie, since it isn't our hospital.. but that's where the gear went. And we got through.

#3- We did a small amount of sightseeing after the work was done but before our flight. Not in the traditional sense. We drove around P-A-P for about an hour to really get a feel of the damage this city has suffered. The news doesn't even begin to cover how bad things really are there.

#4- There was no functioning dedicated entry for General Aviation at PAP, and as a result we were directed towards regular passenger security. We flagged down someone with an airport ID, and it happened to be a local US Embassy employee. We flashed our passports, explained our situation, and he walked us to the front of the security line, got our liquids and knives through, and walked us on the tarmac and to our plane. We showed him our appreciation monetarily after the fact.

#4- We ended spending only a small amount between the four of us (less than USD$100), most which went to pay for diesel in our two Toyota Hiluxes and to tip our drivers. This was mostly due to the fact that we bought our own food and water.

#5- It was HOT. I live in Puerto Rico and am used to warm weather. I can wear a suit outside when its 80 degrees without trouble. Yet in Haiti, it was uncomfortably hot. If I say it's hot, it's really hot.
