Thanks. My old (current) passport hasn't expired, and I have already added pages to it. It's now close to full so I need a new one soon. (And I prefer not to walk all the way to the Chinese Consulate in the cold but looks like I'll have to). I really would like to keep the old book for keepsakes (love all my stamps).
So if I send in my old unexpired passport, they'll mail the old and new ones to me?
Not sure why you'll have to visit the Chinese consulate? It seems likely (based on the above) that you can travel with just your old and new passport. Certainly I'd try to check with consulate before visiting them.
