Agreed. I just wanted to make sure the replies weren’t leading the OP to believe he will experience 75-85 degree temps, even in Chiang Mai. It will be hot. Sure, it’s not the hottest months, but it’s right on the heels of them… which can be brutal. I remember walking through the night flower market in Bangkok, late May, at about 10PM and I was sweating like a mofo. I played a round of golf in Chiang Mai in late May and had to take a break…. This coming from someone who enjoys heat/humidity MUCH more than cold weather (60 is too cold for me).
To the OP, I’d definitely make a visit to Chiang Mai, then off to Chiang Rai and/or Pi. Chiang Mai is, to me, A-1. Great food, some really good bars, and just a wholesome, salt of the earth people. If you head to Chiang Mai, you might want to spend a couple nights at a spa/resort in the mountains about 45 mins from city center. Beautiful up there and 5-10 degrees cooler (and relatively cheap). You’ll be close to the elephant camps, orchid farms, and other interesting sights. If you golf, I’ve got a couple suggestions too. Definitely make it up to Chiang Mai.
