I'm kind of curious, but do you - and others here - support 100% ETD of carry-on bags? We all know that just as the WBI does not detect explosives, neither does the x-ray. As pointed out here countless times, the only machines we have that detect explosives are ETD and ETP. Note, TSA is not considering (as far as I know) 100% ETDing of carry-on luggage, nor is it being conducted at any airport.
Speaking for myself only ... I don't have a big problem with 100% ETD of carry-on bags ... *IF* it's done at the checkpoint, where there's more time and resources available to resolve any alarms that might result, including the option of a private screening if needed. (The option of a private screening doesn't seem to be an option at gateside ETD checks ... unless, of course, you're willing to walk back to the checkpoint and probably miss your flight as a result.)
