Cathay refused to allow us to check our bags in: they said that they were just the morning crew and that the afternoon Cathay crew would have to check us in because they were worried our bags would get lost. That meant that instead of being able to check in and avail ourselves of the lounge we had already paid for, we had to hang out until 1:30pm which is when the afternoon Cathay crew appeared at the checking counters, at which point about 50 other passengers were already lined up waiting for their counters to reopen. So it was about 2:30pm by the time we made it past security and so we had only about 1.5hrs max of lounge time. Definitely not worth it. I suspect this is a Cathay problem (probably not an issue if we had gone with ThaiAirways or someone with constant presence there) - so I would not recommend using this sort of lounge paid service if you are flying with Cathay. We only went with Cathay this round because we had Asiamiles that were about to expire - but Cathay has definitely lost me as a customer. StarAlliance all the way from now on.
I think that this is a BKK airport issue because even TG will only check you in at 3 hours before and counter closes at 40 minutes before flight time. Your only advantage will be able to use the dedicated *G check in at Row B. The TG lounges at BKK are getting quite bare too but there is a SQ SKL to balance out the food offer.

I have used BFS Premium Arrival service and it is very good. I have not used its departure service because I usually would have VAT refund to be processed.
Unless you're flying business, AC has "downgraded" many economy booking classes with TG disguised under the fare code re-alignment. If you're one who generally buy economy and then purchase TG's Standby Upgrade (similar to AC's LMUP but better) at check in, AC's new Latitude B now books into TG's S and Tango Plus now books into TG's W, the latter does not earn any Aeroplan miles. Then you will find TG routinely "zeroed" out the S and W (along with a few other cheaper economy) classes on many of its flights. TG even changed its TG629 departure time recently so that it disconnects with AC15 at HKG.
