Well, you're not really using the old passport per se. The only passport you're using is the current (i.e. new) one, and the still-valid visa for the other country (which happens to be affixed to an expired passport, which in this case you're not using as a passport in the legal sense but simply as a carrier for the other country's still-valid visa).
