Looks like you were on the A333 as expected. Row one was sold as internation FC when the 333's arrived and has full horizontal lie-flat seats and the divider separating it from "just Envoy". Sounds like the crew decided to make that their rest and recreation area and didn't want passengers disturbing them by using the front lav.
