Yes, QF are like HAWKS at LAX T4. The supervisor goes around the boarding area before they begin boarding and requires people to size and weigh their bags if she thinks they are too big. I watched this first hand a few weeks ago for the LAX-BNE flight. So, stay away from the gate until boarding and board quickly!
