"security" has been called on people for praying or FWM (Flying While (appearing to be) Muslim) or numerous other so-called "security" concerns. Often, those who had been the object of the "security" concerns were exonerated but still suffered damage due to time wasted or just outright biogtry. Sometimes, they were deplaned while their (false) accusers traveled freely.

There have been far too many abuses of the "security" card in the last decade and it's for some accountability for the actions of those who deem someone or something "suspicious".
Careful of that baby in the bathwater you're throwing out. Blaming the whole system for a tiny fraction of questionable cases is like wanting a whole new electoral system because of a few spoiled ballots. If this senario was replayed dozens of times a day in Canada I'd be right there beating that drum with you however that isn't happening with what to me is alarming frequency so can't be as quick to chastise airline staff for reporting what they judged to be bahavior that was out of the norm.
