I was thinking the same thing, but then I realized that when I fly long-haul coach, I pretty much do the same thing and scoot my butt toward the edge of the seat to "flatten out" as much as I can. This looks like it may make that slightly more comfortable. There is a money back guarantee, so I figure I'll try it out either way, but I'd still like to hear from anyone else who's tried this.
