How are Lifetime Miles on UA Calculated?
Hey folks,
I've been lurking for a short time, and it looks like a knowledgeable enough crowd to be able to answer my question.
When I log into the United website (apparently known as the .bomb), there is a number for my lifetime United miles. I've looked for the exact definition of this number, but haven't found any.
My assumption is, if you fly on a United plane, but use a FF # from some other airline (let's say, Lufthansa, Swiss, or Singapore), then that flight wouldn't get counted in lifetime United miles. Even if UA wanted to count them, how would they know who the passenger is? The only information would be the passenger name, which isn't exactly a unique identifier.
Does that sound right?
