If you can get the right place and person, you will not be disappointed with the fabric and workmanship ! That said this might prove to be a fruitless search! My former landlord is a designer and remakes old kimono into new clothing for her select clientele....but it is all custom orders as nothing is off the rack! She learned early on that she could not compete with workers who make 2 JPY per hour. What is left of the Japanese fabric industry,the weavers, dyeing craftsmen etc....they have great skills and sensibility!
