I think you do have to be flying on BA on that day....but it can be either the incoming or outgoing flight.....

Going back to the original question, if flying out on AA fr T3, I would tend to still use the AC at T3 unless one has loads of time to kill, as at least then you can relax until your flight is called, whereas at T1 or T4 you have to factor in relaxing for a while....then getting up and changing terminals in time for your flight
