You were flying on an Airbus A321.

At Doors 2 and 3, they are manned by a single crew member, as per their design. When the "Doors to Manual/Automatic - and Cross Check" is made, the single cabin crew member arms/disarms the door furthest away from their seat, then crosses back to the door nearest their crew seat, arm/disarm that one, then wait for the Purser to initiate a "Conference Call - All Stations" and then asks the doors in order of 2 to 4 to confirm the mode selection of their doors.

No one is required to "Check" the doors, you are able to crosscheck them yourself. Read into that "Double Check" if by ones self.
