Door Cross Check - do they have to check ?

Just a casual enquiry, was flying from FRA -> LHR yesterday on BA905 I think it was and have a question.

I can't remember what the plane was, but it had exits in front of the wing which clearly required a crew-member to do the 'doors to manual/automatic and cross check'. However there wasn't another crew-member with him to do the cross-check. The crewmember did one door, then the other and then stood looking like a lemon staring towards the front and the rear of the cabin with a "are you going to come and check these" look on his face.

I was just wondering if one of our BA crew friends on here could tell us if the doors in that situation should have been cross-checked by another crew member or not ?

Apologies that I can't remember the model of plane that I was on at the time, realise thsi might be useful in answering my question.

Be interested to know, by the time the purser asked the flight crew to take their seats, he just sort of shrugged his shoulders and sat down.
