We took several cheap walking tours the first few days, and got oriented quickly. This gives you a great feel for the city and old town, and where you want to return. The guides are knowledgeable and friendly. We also took a pub tour, and it was fantastic. Trams are the best way to travel.
If you need to buy anything, make a stop at Tesco, walkable from the Old Town, and on a Metro stop. Prices were unbelievably low.
U Fleku is nice to see, but remember, over here, and some other pubs, if your glass is empty, they bring you another one.......without asking!
As in Budapest, check the subway/ tram routes to the top of the hill on the other side of the river, and walk down..........it's a lot easier than walking up.
There is a nice monastery at the top for lunch, with a privately blended beer.
