Do political considerations affect fare pricing?

Just a thought.
Here is what leads me to that thought:
Example: the fare this weekend LAN-ORD is $94 (ninty-four). The fare this weekend MBS-ORD is $950 (Nine hundred and fifty).
The car travel distance between LAN to MBS is 75 miles... There are daily almost empty (2 pax...), flights MBS-ORD and R/T.
What can be the reason for 10 times (X 10) more expensive fare MBS-ORD?
This is a recurrent observation.

The only reason for this pricing disparity I am left with is - political. Lansing is the capital city of Michigan and UA doesn't want to antagonize the various elected offcials (including the state's attorney -general).
