Houston Lounge Access

I am currently sitting in the BA Lounge in IAH.

I am a DL Plat that was complimentary upg'd on DL 8051 / AM 473.

I saw that the KLM lounge was open and it seemed nice so I thought I would check it out. In theory all Elite Plus members on an int'l itin have access to "more than 415 SkyTeam lounges worldwide," but apparently not today.

As I entered the KLM lounge the woman sitting there looked up and said "AeroMexico?" I said yes to which she replied "BA lounge is down the hall."

I told her that I understood that BA was the normal AM lounge, but as a SkyTeam Elite Plus member I wanted to go to KLM's. She said that right now it was only for the "special VIP Flight" to Amsterdam (KL 664) and that I couldn't enter. She also added that I would only have access when the earlier flight operates if I was flying on it.

What happened to lounge reciprocity for Elite Plus members travelling on a SkyTeam int'l itin?
