Well, sure and sometime they aren't, as referenced by
jgsx. There have also been examples (to lazy to search) of folks who have had FHR call the FS property directly and gotten the same "3rd night free" promo rate with the FHR benefits.

I remember trying to book at the FS Maldives KH awhile back and the Amex rate was much more expensive than the FS website rate, so I didnt even book through them. (Before I knew about the PP program)
It's almost starting to feel like you are just reaching for reasons to anoint the FSPP program "better." Is there by chance more to the story here?
Yes, sure, sometimes rates are different via FHR than the FS website. Yes, point well taken. And sometimes there not. You need to check. And by the way, you need to check that ANY time you are using these programs. For example, there are a few Starwood Properites in the FHR program, but often I find that SPG.com offers pre pay rates and various "discount code" offers that just can't be gotten via FHR. So, in those cases I don't use FHR. There is rarely a one size fits all solution for travel.

Um... ok. Well, you did start this thread in the American Express Membership Rewards Forum, no? I'm guessing most here are comfortable with paying for this benefit via an American Express card, but, yes, certainly point FSPP for allowing payment via any card...
