I am certain that I am not the only one with this perspective.

If you ever again doubt that AA is the best program, all you need to do is call a United Airlines reservations center for an award reservation or even worse: take a UA flight. or for the fun of it, take a peek into the UNITED AIRLINES MILEAGE PLUS thread and see the misery these poor people endure
